August 2023 DSW - FLOURISH

Write out a Scripture each day following the order of the verses below.  I have sorted the verses in Bible order so that you get used to seeing how God works in the Bible (from beginning to end) and in the hopes that you will see God working in your life (from beginning to end). Also, this is not only to draw your attention to flourishing in the grace and teachings of God's Word but to instill in you the basic practice of being in and writing out Scripture every day.  Challenge yourself to be disciplined in this habit!  Many of you have some sort of notebook in which you are writing these verses.

But first, a few words for you to keep your mind fresh:

"Even as our physical bodies grow old, God causes our new desires to flourish as they are fertilized by His word and Spirit."

"We flourish when we trust God and see that everything that happens to us is designed by Him to advance the Gospel in our hearts and in the hearts of others."

April 2023 DSW - ANEW

It's finally a new, fresh season!  As we come out of our winter hibernation, literally and figuratively, I hope you will take these verses to heart and begin anew.

This is your reminder that Jesus has come and He has made all things new!  Not only does He offer us forgiveness for our sins and reconciliation with the Father, He wants us to live in the freshness and freedom of a vibrant relationship with Him.  He lived His earthly life as an example to us of how to live and there are many Scriptures that encourage us to live a life that is not bound by our own limitations.  May you find the fresh start you've been looking for as you write these Scriptures out every day in April.  May you find refreshment and renewal that is truly only found in Him.

[Some of these verses have stories attached to them and I encourage you to read and contemplate what God is saying to you.]

Daily Scripture Writing - March 2023: Grace = Growth

We can approach the throne room of God in His grace and find the mercy He offers.  And we can count on His grace day in and day out.

But I argue that we must not be content to stay there.  Yes, we are allowed to have times of seeking Him and His face on our knees.  Yes, we can remain there as long as it takes to find the peace and healing that comes from being in His presence.  But this Christian life is about learning and growing in the grace that He offers.  We must find the will to keep walking this life and learn the lessons He wants to teach us.  We must desire to walk the walk that God lays out for us.  We must keep reading the Bible and hiding His truth in our hearts and minds.  We must keep learning and seeking Him.  We must desire to be holy as He is holy.  We must challenge ourselves to become more like Christ as we walk and be worthy of that calling.  We must grow in grace.

Use this list of verses -write a verse each day this month- to learn about His amazing grace and hide them in your heart for the times where you must walk worthy of His calling (Ephesians 4:1).

And grow in grace, my friend.

December DSW - the Names of Jesus

 Merry Christmas!

This Daily Scripture Writing is a wonderful way to end the year.  Each Scripture is the name of Jesus.  If you are not sure of what His name is in a specific verse, maybe check out the verse in a different translation.  I used the NASB in my search.

If you're the crafty type, you could cut out small stars and write each name on them and decorate your tree or hang them around your house.

August 2022 Daily Scripture Writing

Here is the Daily Scripture Writing plan for August 2022 that I curated.  Many of the verses that speak to the fear of God are found in Proverbs.

Do you have an actual fear of the Almighty Creator of the Universe?  Do you have a reverence for the majesty and holiness of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob?

I hope that you are confronted and amazed with the bigness and glory of God as you write out and study these verses this month.

Study Topic Ideas

Your word I have treasured in my heart that I may not sin against You.  Psalm 119:11

The mind of the prudent acquires knowledge and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.  Proverbs 18:15

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.  Philippians 4:8

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.   2 Timothy 2:15

    Journaling Cards

I've been trying to find my Crafty Mojo for the last two years.  I've read numerous articles, played with different mediums, tried some new techniques.  But all I was able to do was make another pile of "I'm not satisfied."  I didn't mind making mini messes but I did mind being unable to find something that scratched that creative itch.  Some things were too hard for me, other things didn't end up looking like they should, others were just too expensive....  Woe was me!

I have been wanting to get back into creating Artist Trading Cards (ATCs).  I had some fun with these a few years ago and remembered how easy I found them to be; there is no limit to your creativity and since they are small in size, not too much stress is involved.  Also, since I've spent over a year reading and writing out Scripture, I have wanted to make something crafty with Bible verses.  Et voila, I found my answer!  While I am waiting to purchase paper or precut ATC cards (they are already cut to the 3.5 x 2.5 inch rectangle that ATCs are required to be), and I had a plethora of journaling cards, I decided to start with those.  I gathered my collection of stickers, markers, stamps and inks, adhesives...and got to work organizing all that create-y goodness.  I have stamps and stickers from all over and am not really partial to one creative company.

To begin with, I had this mess:

Not sure where I should start, I had the idea to type up the January DSW in different fonts and print out the verses that I curated late last year and have been cutting them apart to glue on the journaling cards:

I not only cut them down to make all the words fit on the cards, but I was careful to cut the words apart where the phrases would make sense on the cards.  Maybe that's a #WordNerd thing, I don't know.

Long story short, here are some examples:

I have seen folks punch a hole and keep cards on a ring but I am not sure about what to do just yet.  I have them corralled in a little container to keep them from scattering.

I think I can stick with this for a while.  At least, it is my hope that I can make journaling cards or ATCs with all the 2022 DSW themes.  Won't that make a fun little collection?

What project combines your love for crafting and your love of the Scriptures?  Tell me about it!  Let's encourage each other :)

    Grace and Peace to you.
